Shared vs Official SEO Tool Subscriptions: Which Is Right for You?

Disclosure: SEO BD Tools, the company behind this blog, sells shared access to premium tools. We mention our own plans where they are relevant and explain the trade-offs honestly. Prices below were checked in October 2026 and can change, so confirm them on each vendor’s own pricing page before you buy.

Shared access, often called group buy, lets several people use one premium tool account through a dashboard or browser extension, so each person pays a small monthly fee instead of the full price. It can look like a bargain. It is also different from buying the tool yourself, and those differences matter.

This guide compares the two options plainly so you can pick the one that suits your work. We sell shared access, so we will be clear about where an official subscription is the better choice.

When an official subscription is the better choice

  • You handle client data, rankings or reports that must stay private.
  • You deliver paid work to a deadline and cannot risk an interruption.
  • You need a vendor invoice, for example to reclaim VAT or GST.
  • You use a tool heavily every day and want the vendor’s support.

When shared access can make sense

  • You are learning SEO and want to try several tools before paying full price.
  • You run personal or side projects with no confidential data.
  • You only need a tool occasionally, so a full plan would sit unused.
  • You want to compare tools before committing to an official plan.

Questions to ask any provider before you pay

  1. Is this an official subscription, or shared access? Honest providers say so up front.
  2. How many people use each account, and what limits apply?
  3. What is the refund policy? Ours is on the refund policy page and applies only when a tool does not work.
  4. What rules could get the account banned? For example, using a VPN or VPS can get a shared account banned for everyone.
  5. How long does access last? Our passes run for 30 days from payment.
  6. Where do I get help if a tool stops working?
  7. Will my saved projects be visible to other users?

What we do and do not promise

  • We are not an official reseller of any tool, and we say so on our site.
  • One pass is for one person. Team passes cover 3 or 5 devices.
  • If a tool stops working and we cannot fix it, you get a refund. If the tools in your plan work, we do not refund.
  • Do not store private client data in a shared tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is shared access the same as a subscription from the vendor?

No. It is a separate service. You do not get a licence from the vendor, and the vendor does not support you.

Can I use shared tools for client work?

We recommend against putting private client data into any shared tool. Use an official subscription for sensitive work.
